Ever Thought of Building Your Own Instrument?

Meet Rizal, a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, bamboo instrument builder, music producer and social activist from West Java, Indonesia.

Some of the instruments Rizal build include bamboo guitars and cellos but he also creates, what he calls the Rasendriya, an instrument that combines a guitar with a didgeridoo and celempuna (percussion). Rizal’s latest project is his bamboo lapsteel guitar and strings instrument. 

“A lot of things we can do with our own two hands, but we forget about that”, Rizal reminds us.

Rizal hosts workshops to teach people how to make bamboo instruments. He dedicates his music and career towards creating real social change and promoting creativity.
