The First Step.

22-YEAR-OLD SAM BENCHEGHIB LAUNCHED HIS 3,000 MILE RUN ACROSS AMERICA ON JULY 26TH 2019.

SAM BENCHEGHIB update on July 27th, 2019: “On Friday 26th at 10:34am under the hot New York sun overlooking Miss Liberty, the culmination of everything I had been working for the past 7 months was all coming together. The conditions were perfect. Equipped with a wireless microphone synced up to a portable outdoor speaker, I addressed the crowd of 80 all here to launch this run with me.

From some of my closest friends, to dear supporters, to media and sponsors- I asked the crowd to take two deep breaths as a reminder of the importance our oceans have in giving us life. Through our partner, Parley For The Ocean, they had invited United Nation’s Assistant Secretary-General Satya Tripathi who spoke about to the importance of this spiritual journey in raising awareness of connecting the people I will be meeting along my route back to the oceans. Running across the US is way more than a physical challenge for me. It is my way of sending out an urgent cry for help to protect the very ecosystem that we depend on, but that we have abused over the last century. In kicking off this epic adventure- I am taking my first step in pursuing a more sustainable life and to living on the road.”
