We all know how serious the plastic epidemic in our ocean is getting. I've mentioned in previous blogs, the consequences of plastic pollution in our ocean.
As filmmakers, activists and environmentalists, we try our best to find the most shocking visuals to influence our viewers to try to stop using plastic and live more sustainably. We appreciate and admire all the people out there who try to help our environment and our oceans.
Here is a list of some of the people we admire most. These guys live for the ocean. They dedicate their lives to protect it and to prevent it from getting out of control.
William Trubridge: World champion freediver and record-holder. William has been freediving for the past 14 years and has seen a huge increase in the amount of plastic trash in our ocean. William helped develop an app called Global Alert, a platform that allows people to track trash hot-spots in waterways and coastlines.
Álvaro de Marichalar: Spanish explorer and 7-time world record holder, who jet-skied across the Atlantic Ocean. Álvaro goes on these weeks-long expeditions to raise awareness about the state of our oceans.
Divers Clean Action: A network of students all around Indonesia who host diving clean-ups to clean the Indonesian seafloor. They dive every week and clean up the ocean, host workshops for students and have created their own waste management system. Divers Clean Action have also managed to ban plastic straws in Indonesian KFCs.
